LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police in southern Indiana have shot a man who used social media to request a meeting.

Investigators say an officer received a message from a man asking to meet in the parking lot of League Stadium.

When officers from Huntingburg, Indiana arrived at the stadium, they  saw the man holding what appeared to be a gun. Police say the man was told several times to drop the weapon, but he pointed it at officers, who then shot him several times.

The man is now in serious condition in the hospital.

Indiana State Police is handling the investigation.
