LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Surveillance video shows what happened when a would-be robber was stopped by a cup of coffee.

A gas station clerk in Muncie, Ind., was finishing up his shift at about 6 a.m. Tuesday morning when things turned scary.

A masked man rushed in and pointed a gun in Mark McFall's face. The clerk reacted quickly by throwing a hot cup of coffee at the gunman.

The would-be crook took off running. Although, McFall wasn't hurt police caution against taking that kind of action against someone armed with a potentially deadly weapon.

"If someone is robbing them the best thing do is to comply with their demands especially for money. It's not worth being injured or possibly killed over," Officer Brian Campbell, who is with the Muncie Police Department, said.

The gunman did not get away with any money.
