Combat motorcycle veterans deliver housing kits for homeless veterans

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Homeless veterans get a huge donation to help them get back on their feet.

The Louisville Chapter of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association dropped off transitional housing kits today. The VA Healthcare Center in Shively works to put homeless veterans into apartments.

The kits include items like shower curtains, pot and pans and vacuum cleaners.

"These are basically everything a veteran would need when they move into an apartment for the first time and almost all of our veterans have no income and nothing  when they first move in so this is a big gift for them," Jamie Watts, with VA Healthcare Center Shively.

The goal is to make sure veterans have something to sit on, eat on and sleep on when they move into an apartment.
