LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- LMPD spokesperson Alicia Smiley tells WDRB that a man was killed Thursday night in a crash on I-65 South near Fern Valley Road.

The man who died has been identified as 19-year-old Ozzie Simpson, according to the Jefferson County Coroner's Office.

Officials said Simpson was killed when the car he was in the backseat of rear ended a bucket truck, and then was hit by a car from behind. The coroner's office said Simpson died of blunt injuries to the head and neck. He was pronounced dead on scene just before 10 p.m. Thursday night.

Everyone else in the crash (in three vehicles) was taken to University Hospital. Police said their injuries were all thought to be non-life threatening. Investigators have not caught up with the bucket truck, which they say did not stop after the initial crash.

Traffic was being diverted along Grade Lane, but investigators opened one lane of traffic around 11 p.m. As of 2:30 Friday morning, I-65 was still down to one lane near Fern Valley Road.

Emergency crews and investigators are expected to remain at the scene while they piece together what caused the initial crash.

Update: This story has been updated with the victim's name.
