LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A father helped rescue his step-daughters from a burning house.

Sam Hudson nearly lost the two teenagers in an early morning fire Thursday in Indianapolis.

"'Just go to the window, jump out the window. I swear to God I will catch you guys,'" Hudson recounted telling his daughters. "'Please jump. I promise I got you. Please jump.'"

He convinced them to break out the windows to their upstairs bedrooms and jump into his arms.

One of the daughters was hospitalized for severe burns.

"I really almost lost my babies," he said.

Investigators say the fire was accidental, but are still investigating how it started.
