Damion Lee and Trey Lewis react to U of L postseason ban

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Graduate transfers Damion Lee and Trey Lewis, the U of L players most obviously affected by Friday's U of L postseason basketball ban, addressed the media Friday evening at the Yum! Center practice facility on campus.

In a 1:30 p.m. press conference, President John Ramsey, Athletic Director Tom Jurich and head coach Rick Pitino announced the team had self-imposed a ban on ACC and NCAA Tournament play this season amid an investigation into allegations surrounding the book "Breaking Cardinal Rules."

Both players appear shocked and hurt by the news. Lewis said Pitino informed the team around noon Friday that the postseason ban would be imposed.

“We came here for a purpose and a mission, to play for a great school and to play in the tournament for a great coach," Lewis said.

"We don't deserve this. This team doesn't deserve this."

Lee added that despite Friday's news, coming to Louisville has been blessing.

“This has been the greatest experience of my life as far as college, no matter what happened," Lee said.
