LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A handcuffed inmate was recaptured Sunday night after briefly escaping from the Oldham County Jail, Kentucky State Police confirm.

Officials say Darrell Pennington, Jr. was being transported from the Henry County Jail by a Henry County Jailer when he got away just before 7 p.m. outside the Oldham County Jail, which is on Main Street in La Grange.

Officers set up a perimeter to locate the escapee, and ultimately captured Pennington around 8:30 p.m.

Officials say Pennington had made it to a home on Juniper Drive in Shelbyville, which is believed to be the home of his wife or ex-wife.

He was detained there and is back in police custody at the Oldham County Jail.
