LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) –The UK women’s basketball team outscored LSU by 16 in the first period, setting the tone early in a 70-58 victory Sunday at Memorial Coliseum in Lexington, Kentucky.
The Wildcats ended a three game streak and in the process, they handed the Tigers their fourth straight loss.
“Glad to get the victory today,” said UK head coach Matthew Mitchell. “I thought LSU played real hard and gave a great effort. I loved some of the things that we did to build a big lead.”
Senior Janee Thompson led the way for UK with 16 points and 10 assists. After the game, she gave credit to her teammates for her performance.
“They did a good job of knocking down shots and making lay-ups,” said Thompson. “They gave me all the confidence in the world today to go out and play hard.”
