Pitino tells ESPN he'd work for free if Cards could have shot at NCAA this season

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- U of L basketball coach Rick Pitino wants to see changes so another team isn't punished like his.

"Schools need to fined heavily," Pitino said. "And they can't take that money from anywhere away from other programs. They need to be fined heavily. Coaches need to get their salaries deducted, 20, 30, 40 percent -- whatever. I'd work for free if it meant we could have this NCAA tournament for these guys."

Pitino talked to ESPN's Mike and Mike this morning. He says despite the self-imposed post season ban on his team, the future looks bright for the Cards.

He says he is confident athletic director Tom Jurich will take the team in the right direction.
