Kentucky may have to return millions of dollars of federal funding for Kynect

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky may have to return millions of dollars to the federal government.

The state received a $289 million federal grant to plan and set up Kynect, the state's health exchange. The state has spent all of it, except for about $57 million.

Governor Matt Bevin wants to dismantle Kynect and says it will return any unused money. Federal officials say state officials can't use the money to move the state to the federal exchange.
