Indiana Democrats say GOP U.S. Senate candidate unqualified for primary

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Indiana Democratic Party argues that Republican U.S. Senate candidate Todd Young does not qualify for the primary.

Democrats say Representative Young needs two more petition signatures in northwestern Indiana's District One.

State law requires Senate candidates to submit signatures of 500 registered voters from each of Indiana's congressional districts to qualify for the primary ballot.

Young says the move is a political stunt and says he turned in almost 650 signatures from District One.
