Mom celebrates daughter's memory in 'wacky' style

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A mother honors her daughter's memory in "wacky" style.

Denise Taylor's daughter, Jonnae, died in 2008 after battling leukemia for more than two years.

Before Jonnae passed away, she was sad about missing Wacky Wednesday during her school's spirit week. So her mother created her own Wacky Wednesday.

That tradition started eight years ago today. The mother celebrates it every week and everywhere she goes.

"The whole purpose is to lift the spirit. Jonnae was a great teacher in that, you know to stay focused on joy and I've been gifted with a fun way to get to do it," Taylor said.

Denise brought Wacky Wednesday to Kosair Children's Hospital after her daughter died.

She then starting spreading joy at the airport, giving fellow travelers wacky accessories.

Some flight crews also join in on the fun.
