Carrollton man accused of kidnapping woman at gunpoint
Authorities say he told the woman to stop crying or he would shoot her.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Carrollton, Kentucky man has been arrested after authorities say he kidnapped a woman and robbed her at gunpoint.
According to an arrest report, the incident took place on Wednesday, just after 10 a.m.
Ricky Welch, age 42, allegedly went to a home on U.S. Highway 227, pulled a gun on a woman and demanded her money, according to an arrest report. She gave Welch approximately $500 in cash and checks.
According to the Carroll County Sheriff's Office, Welch then got into her car. Allegedly pointing a gun at her, he demanded that she drive him to the entrance of Butler Park.
The sheriff's office says that Welch told the woman, "not to look at him and stop crying or he would shoot her."
According to the arrest report, Welch was arrested shortly after 1 p.m. when he was found hiding in a bathtub in a home on Baker Avenue, near the intersection of U.S. Highway 320 and Hawkins Street.
Welch was identified, "through voice description and photo lineup and clothing description," according to the arrest report.
The Carroll County Sheriff's Department has charged him with first degree robbery and kidnapping of an adult.
