Local WW II vet's belongings returned to 95-year-old widow

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A local World War II veteran's belongings are back in the hands of his 95-year-old widow, thanks to a good Samaritan.

The shadowbox of belongings was found at a local flea market. Someone turned it over to the VA Hospital hoping staff would be able to track down Harry Polsgrove's family.

They did and the shadowbox was given to his wife yesterday.

The shadowbox contains her husband's picture, part of his uniform and other memorabilia from his service.

"It's wonderful," said Frances Polsgrove. "It's like it's bringing him back. He's been gone almost 16 years, so, 16 years."

The family has no idea how the shadowbox ended up at a flea market in the first place.
