Louisville offense falters down the stretch in 71-66 loss to Notre Dame

Posted: Updated:

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WDRB) -- The University of Louisville men's basketball team took a seven-point lead to halftime in South Bend on Saturday, but a second-half surge from Notre Dame propelled the Irish to a 71-66 win.

The Cardinals, led by their backcourt trio, out-gunned the home team over the first 20 minutes, putting up 43 points on 49 percent shooting.

But with one of the best offenses in the country, Notre Dame's pace really outlasted the Cardinals late.

U of L only made seven field goals in the second half after 16 in the first.

Guards Quentin Snider, Trey Lewis and Damion Lee combined for 36 points.

The win dropped Louisville into fifth place in the ACC standings, a game and a half behind North Carolina.
