Highland liquor store offers new take on drive-thru service

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- There are many drive-thru liquor stores in Louisville, but none quite like this one. Instead of pulling up in a lane outside, you literally drive through the business.

It's all part of the rather unique traffic flow at Bourbon and Belles.

"Someone comes to your car with an iPad, takes your order, and the product is brought to you," said Jennifer Stetson, part owner of Bourbon and Belles. "But it's a different experience."

Stetson and her partner opened the unique business in October of last year, and with the recent snow and cold temperatures, it's becoming a big hit.

"You never have to get out of your car," Stetson explained. "We have foil, batteries, cat food, dog food, candy bars, chips and salsa."

The highlight: shelves full of bourbon, wine, vodka and other alcohol selections.

The former owner used the 6,000 square-foot space to store parts for his plumbing business.

"To keep his trucks from having to find parking, he kind of set up this drive-thru, and this was the warehouse where they would pick the parts up," said Stetson.

The layout aligned perfectly with her vision, but she wanted have fun with the design and pay homage to her Bluegrass roots.

"It's completely off what Kentucky means to me. The beauty and charm of fast horses and Kentucky Bourbon. It's really a place where I can call home."

You can also order ahead by using the Bourbon and Belles app.

"It's the things that you either ran out of or forgot to get at the grocery and you don't have to deal with going to the grocery," Stetson said. "It's a convenience that can't be offered by anybody else."

Bourbon and Belles is open seven days a week.
