LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The top aide to University of Louisville President James Ramsey said Wednesday that there is no truth to a report that Ramsey held a private meeting at his home over the weekend to talk about "his future" and a potential resignation.

Kathleen Smith, Ramsey's chief of staff, called the anonymously sourced report by WHAS-11 TV "totally false" in an email to WDRB News. Smith said she has "no knowledge of any such meeting."

The station reported that Ramsey "appears to be laying out a roadmap for a departure that would be called a retirement."

Ramsey, 67, has hinted at retiring several times in the last few months in public forums. He is on contract with the university through 2020.

University spokesman John Karman said Ramsey was unavailable for comment Wednesday.
