WDRB President and General Manager Bill Lamb weighs in on the future of television

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Newspapers are going out of business and many TV stations in the country are going away.

That's what the future holds, according to WDRB President and General Manager Bill Lamb.

At Thursday's Rotary Club of Louisville meeting, Lamb talked about technology moving at warp speed, from high-definition video to many other improvements in the last few years. Many newspaper journalists are moving to TV -- and the government is trying to buy TV frequencies to sell to mobile networks.

He says that means some TV stations will disappear, and there will be changes at the surviving stations.

"The answer is more local programming, more local news," Lamb said. "It makes the community better. I think local news will increase in Louisville."

He also said the future of TV will include more use of drones for news gathering.
