LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- They're gearing up to help fight premature birth.

The community-wide kick off event was held Saturday for Louisville's March for Babies.

More than 170 team captains, walkers, sponsors and volunteers met at XScape Theater for the pep rally.

Their goal is to raise money for research and education to help stop premature births.

"You know, what we want is for babies to go full term," said Jill Bell, the event's sponsor. "They'll get a healthy start when they're full term, and that means moms get to take care of themselves, even when they're pregnant and throughout their pregnancy."

Louisville's March for Babies is Saturday May 14, at Waterfront Park.
