LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) --  The top five executives at Louisville-based Yum! Brands Inc. will move to Plano, Texas, the company said Monday -- yet its headquarters will remain in Louisville.

The changes, first reported Monday by our partners at Louisville Business First, involve CEO Greg Creed and four top lieutenants – the company's chief financial officer, chief people officer, chief legal officer and chief public affairs and global nutrition officer, according to Yum.

Louisville will remain the company's headquarters and retain about 500 corporate headquarters jobs, according to Yum spokeswoman Virginia Ferguson. The executives will maintain offices and work from Louisville 1-2 weeks per month, Yum spokesman Jonathan Blum said.

Creed and his leadership team "will be highly mobile, traveling to many of our international markets and offices throughout the year," Ferguson said in an email Monday.

"No other Yum! Corporate roles or teams will move from Louisville to Plano," Ferguson said.

Yum employs about 1,000 people in Louisville between its corporate headquarters and the head office of KFC’s U.S. division.

But Yum’s Global KFC division and its Pizza Hut division are in Plano. Yum’s Taco Bell division is based in Irvine, California.

Creed led Taco Bell before moving to Louisville in 2014 to become Yum’s CEO effective Jan. 1, 2015.

Yum spokesman Jonathan Blum told Business First that the move makes sense, because the company’s two biggest businesses – KFC Global and Pizza Hut – are in Plano.

"Given the global nature of our business, which has transformed over the years, this makes sense and is consistent with the way other companies operate," Blum told WDRB in an email.
