Health officials lift most restrictions related to southwestern Indiana bird flu outbreak

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Health officials have ended most of the restrictions related to a bird flu outbreak in southwestern Indiana.

The State Board of Animal Health ended testing and surveillance Monday at poultry farms near where the virus was first found in Dubois County.

Lifting the restrictions means that affected poultry farms will no longer face limits on the movement of poultry and poultry products, but quarantines will continue at 10 commercial farms until they meet cleanup requirements.

More than 414,000 turkeys and chickens were euthanized to contain the outbreak.
