LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The ramp from Court Avenue to I-65 South is scheduled to close early next week.

According to a news release, the closure will allow crews with Walsh Construction to demolish the old ramp and build a new ramp in connection with work on the Downtown Crossing portion of the Ohio River Bridges Project.

The new ramp is expected to open this spring.

The ramp is expected to close early on Monday, February 29. The closure will likely begin shortly after midnight. The ramp is expected to be closed for about 2-1/2 months.

The new ramp will eventually connect with the improved John F. Kennedy Memorial Bridge, which will carry six lanes of I-65 southbound traffic by late this year. When the ramp reopens this spring, it will continue to carry traffic to its temporary position, with I-65 South traffic utilizing lanes of the Abraham Lincoln Bridge to cross the river.

Signage will be in place, notifying drivers of the ramp closure. The signed detour will direct drivers to take Spring Street to 10th Street to access I-65 South.

This marks the start of the last of the scheduled, long-term closures associated with construction of the Downtown Crossing. Several closures remain in place, but no additional long-term closures are scheduled. Work on the Downtown Crossing is expected to be complete late this year.
