Oregon man implants RFID chip in his hand

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- An Oregon man has implanted a radio frequency identification chip in his body.

James Newman says the chip allows him to unlock his home and iPhone with just the swipe of his hand.

Newman says he's using the same technology used in microchipped pets and key fobs.

"I'm the only one that I know that has one, it's kind of unique," Newman said. "A lot of people say that's weird, no way. Then after they see me do it once or twice, they say 'OK that's kind of cool.'"

Newman says the implant came in a kit from a website.
