Police at IU Bloomington investigating after student stabbed

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police at Indiana University in Bloomington are investigating after a student was stabbed Sunday morning.

According to a news release from IU Police, the stabbing happened around 3:15 a.m.

Police say the student said he was walking when he was approached by another male who tried to rob him. Investigators say the victim stated he did not have any money.

The suspect then patted the victim down and stabbed the victim once in the stomach, before fleeing the scene, according to officials. Authorities say the victim ran home and was taken to the hospital by a friend.

Police say the victim's injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Officials describe the suspect as a black, middle-aged man with a black beard. The man is about 6 feet tall and he was wearing a black hoodie with a logo and black sweatpants.
