Ramp from Court Ave. to I-65S is now closed

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The ramp from Court Avenue to I-65 South is now closed and is expected to reopen this spring.

According to a news release, the closure will allow crews with Walsh Construction to demolish the old ramp and build a new ramp in connection with work on the Downtown Crossing portion of the Ohio River Bridges Project.

The new ramp will eventually connect with the improved John F. Kennedy Memorial Bridge, which will carry six lanes of I-65 southbound traffic by late this year. When the ramp reopens this spring, it will continue to carry traffic to its temporary position, with I-65 South traffic utilizing lanes of the Abraham Lincoln Bridge to cross the river.

The signed detour will direct drivers to take Spring Street to 10th Street to access I-65 South.

This marks the start of the last of the scheduled, long-term closures associated with construction of the Downtown Crossing. Several closures remain in place, but no additional long-term closures are scheduled. Work on the Downtown Crossing is expected to be complete late this year.
