Murder victim identified in West Louisville double shooting

LOUISVILLE, Ky (WDRB) -- A double shooting in West Louisville leads police to believe the two cases are connected.

LMPD detectives are working to find out why the shooting occurred and who pulled the trigger.

"Back when we was coming up, we would fight. The next day you'd probably have to fight again and it would be over with but now they're taking it to another level,” said Alvin Malone, who has lived in the Shawnee neighborhood for 40 years.

Malone says he and his neighbors are tired of the gun violence.

On Tuesday, two men were gunned down on Madelon Court.

Racynnio Rankins, 35, was killed.

"I saw all the police tape and usually when you see the tape something bad has done happened,” said Malone.

Another man was shot and survived.

Police say that man was able to run to a nearby gas station and get help. He’s being treated at University Hospital.

"Everywhere you go at all times, someone is getting killed,” said Tidshawnda Spence.

Spence says the killings seem like an everyday occurrence anymore.

"It's horrible because all the black people are killing each other. It's horrible in just a 100-percent package. Horrible,” she told WDRB.

She says witnesses need to come forward to police.

"If I see somebody shoot somebody, I'm telling on you. I'm telling on whoever it is,” she said.

Spence blames gangs while Alvin Malone blames the lack of police presence in west Louisville.

"I think they should be more visible but that's just me,” he told WDRB.
