LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Indiana officially has a new lieutenant governor.

The Indiana legislature confirmed the appointment of former state Republican chairman Eric Holcomb, who was sworn into office Thursday afternoon.

Republican leaders praise the selection of Holcomb, citing his experience as a top aide to former Gov. Mitch Daniels.

Holcomb replaces Sue Ellspermann, who is applying to become Ivy Tech Community College's new president.
