Louisville's shortened season ends on a sour note with 68-46 loss at Virginia

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The University of Louisville men's basketball didn't expect to play its last game of the season on March 5, but here we are.

And with no reward for a win Saturday at Virginia, the Cardinals came out flat and couldn't recover against the No. 4 Cavaliers at John Paul Jones Arena.

U of L lost, 68-46, to end the 2015-16 season with a 23-8 record.

Freshman guard Donovan Mitchell led the Cardinals with 11 points and six rebounds. He was the only player who scored in double figures.

Graduate seniors Damion Lee and Trey Lewis combined for 16 points on 5-22 shooting from the field.

With every team now finished with the regular season, Louisville fell short of its secondary goal of winning the ACC regular season title. North Carolina beat Duke on Saturday to secure first place, while U of L finished fourth.
