LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) – Lewis pulled off a huge upset in the GLVC semifinals, beating top seeded Bellarmine 70-66 Saturday in St. Charles, Missouri.
Lewis experienced all kinds of emotions on the way to the win. The Flyers saw a 14 point lead turn into a two point deficit with 1:33 to play when George Suggs hit a pair of free throws to give Bellarmine the lead. It was the last points Bellarmine would score the rest of the way.
The Flyers shut down then Knights on defense and scored the final six points of the game on free throws to rally for the win.
Max Strus scored 27 for the Flyers who will play UW-Parkside in the finals Sunday.
Bellarmine drops to 23-6 on the season.
The Knights learn their NCAA tournament seeding Sunday at 10:30 PM when selections are announced in a webcast on NCAA.com.
