WINCHESTER, Ky. (WDRB) -- One person is arrested after three people were killed in an apartment fire in central Kentucky.

WKYT is reporting that 55-year-old Jackie Hisle Jr. was arrested and charged with manslaughter in connection with the fire.

According to Chief Cathy Rigney of the Winchester Fire Department, the fire started at about 1:30 a.m. Friday at Spring Mist Apartments in Winchester.

Rigney said the fire originated in a main floor apartment. At least 10 units were destroyed at the apartment complex, which has a wood frame construction and no sprinkler systems.

One man and two women died in the fire, according to Rigney. Six others were transported to the hospital.

Winchester is in central Kentucky about 30 minutes east of Lexington.

Clark County Fire officials tell WKYT some of the injured are in critical condition. One person was hurt jumping from a second story window.

Firefighters haven't said how the fire started. But residents say they awoke from their sleep to flames and the smell of smoke.

The Red Cross responded to the scene to help survivors.
