LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Commonwealth of Kentucky want to have a man accused of raping and murdering a 7-year-old girl put to death, according to a court filing.

The state filed a notice that it intends to seek the death penalty in its case against Timothy Madden.

Madden was arrested and charged with sodomy and murder in the death of Gabbi Doolin, a 7-year-old from Scottsville, Ky. who went missing during a football game in November 2015.

Doolin was found dead in a nearby creek shortly after she was reported missing by her family.

Madden called the charges against him bogus in a jailhouse interview with WDRB.

“I’ve done nothing wrong,” he said. “I’m a very innocent man. They can ask anybody that knows me.”
