St. Baldrick's Foundation sparks hundreds of shaved heads Saturday in Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Hundreds braved a shave for kids with cancer Saturday at Louisville Slugger Field.

They shaved their heads as part of a fundraiser for the St. Baldrick's Foundation, a charity that says it funds more childhood cancer research grants than any organization besides the U.S. government.

Adults and children alike took turns losing their hair to support those who don't have a choice.

The younger ones say it feels strange but it's all for a good cause.

"They have the lose their hair if they have to go through chemotherapy or radiation treatment, and I just feel like ours, voluntarily losing our hair for them ... it's a great cause and should really help people understand what these kids are going through," Zak Vitale said.

Local fundraisers set their goal at $200,000. So far, they've brought in more than $120,000.
