LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Bumble Bee Foods is issuing a nationwide recall of cans of Chunk Light Tuna in Water and Oil.

The company says the tuna may be contaminated.  The voluntary recall involves cans packed by a facility not owned by the company.  The recall involves 31,000 cases of five ounce cans of chunk white tuna that were "under-processed," which could make people very sick if they eat it. The mishap was discovered during the packer’s quality audit.

The products subject to this recall are marked with a can code that starts with a "T" and have the "best by" codes listed on the company's website.

These products were distributed nationwide, including at many major retailers. Bumble Bee is  working with the packer and U.S. Food and Drug Administration remove the products from stores.

Consumers looking for more information on reimbursement or who have questions about the recall can contact Bumble Bee at (888) 820-1947 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. Eastern Time, seven days a week, or visit Bumble Bee Foods recall on the web.

No other production codes or products are affected by the recall, according to Bumble Bee.
