Off-duty police officers will soon patrol parts of Old Louisville

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Off-duty police officers will soon start patrolling parts of Old Louisville.

A nearly $5,000 grant given to the Old Louisville Neighborhood Council is funding the patrols.

Officers will work three shifts a week for several hours a night, and some of the patrols through the Oak Street Corridor will happen on foot.

The pilot patrols will run for 13 weeks.

Following that, the Neighborhood Council will decide if they should continue.
