LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Indiana Governor Mike Pence has signed a bill that eliminates the ISTEP test.
Indiana students will not have to take ISTEP, beginning in the 2017-18 school year. The law also establishes a 23-member panel to study testing alternatives.
The test has been heavily criticized recently, since nearly half of students failed last year.
Officials blame the low scores on computer glitches.
Many schools went back to the paper and pencil version this year for elementary students.
