Funeral arrangements released for fallen Howard Co., Indiana deputy

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Indiana State Police have released the funeral arrangements for a fallen Howard County deputy.

Visitation for Deputy Carl Koontz is scheduled for Monday, March 28 from 1-7 p.m. at Northwestern High School in Kokomo, Indiana. His funeral will take place on Tuesday, March 29, at 11 a.m., and will also happen at Northwestern High School.

Deputy Koontz will be buried at Albright Cemetery in Kokomo.

He died Sunday morning after he was shot while trying to serve a warrant in Russiaville, Indiana, which is about an hour north of Indianapolis.

Deputy Koontz is survived by his wife and his eight-month-old son.

A second officer was also shot, but is expected to recover. The suspect police say shot at the officers was later found dead.
