Louisville parts ways with 2016 men's basketball recruit

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Louisville men's basketball team lost a 2016 recruit Tuesday, leaving it with just one new freshman for next season.

U of L sports information director Kenny Klein says Frankie Hughes, a 6-foot-3-inch guard from the Cleveland, Ohio, will be granted release from his letter of intent.

There isn't a clear reason for the move right now.

Hughes is unranked by Rivals, but the move leaves the Cardinals with just V.J. King, the 24th ranked player in the 2016 class, and Tony Hicks, a graduate transfer from the University of Pennsylvania, as new arrivals next season.
