LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville woman is facing several serious charges after police say she left two children alone at her home in dangerous conditions.

According to the arrest report, it happened Tuesday morning. That's when police were called to a home in the 4200 block of Larkwood Avenue for a possible domestic disturbance. When officers knocked on the door, it "popped open" and officers were let in by a child. After entering the home, officers noticed that two children, both under 2 years old, were in the home alone.

Officers also noticed "an open flame on the stove, razor blades on the couch and bug spray on the ground."

When the suspect, 25-year-old Sabrina Burrell, returned, police began to question her. That's when they say she continued to lie about who she was, despite being told that providing false information to an officer is a crime.

As Burrell was being arrested, police say she managed to slip out of her handcuffs and began fighting with officers. Police say Burrell grabbed one officer by the throat during the struggle. Burrell was able to get away from the officer, who tried to use a taser to stop her but missed. Officers caught up with her a short distance away and took her into custody, but not before she ripped a microphone from the shirt of an officer who tried to call for help.

Burrell is now charged with two counts of abandonment of a minor, giving police a false name or address, escape, fleeing or evading police and assaulting a police or probation officer.

She's being held at Louisville Metro Corrections on a $5,000 cash bond.
