Final Open House on bridge tolls to be held Thursday in Jeffersonville

JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (WDRB) -- The series of RiverLink open houses is wrapping up this week, with a final session planned in Jeffersonville on Thursday.

According to a news release, nearly 1,200 people have taken part in the open houses to date. Six open houses were held in Kentucky in February, and Thursday’s event will be the last of six open houses this month in Indiana.

They’re free and open to the public.

Thursday’s open house is 5:30-7:00 p.m. at the Sheraton Riverside Hotel, 700 Riverside Drive in Jeffersonville. It will be in the hotel ballroom on the second floor. Guests should use the main entrance.

Displays include information on how all-electronic tolling works, what transponders are available, what payment options exist and initial toll rates. The events have also given drivers a chance ask any questions they may have. Many questions have centered on transponder options and how to set up an account.

Transponders are expected to be available in mid-2016. The RiverLink local transponder works on local tolled bridges and is free with a prepaid account. Drivers can get one free transponder per vehicle. The RiverLink E-ZPass transponder works in all 16 E-Zpass states, and is portable among vehicles registered to a single account. It costs $15 per transponder.

People will be able to order transponders when setting up prepaid accounts through the secure RiverLink.com website, by phone with a customer service representative or in person at one of two customer service centers. Transponders ordered online or by phone will be mailed to customers.

Customer service centers will be located at 400 East Main Street in Louisville and at 103 Quartermaster Court in Jeffersonville. They’re expected to open in mid-2016, when transponders are available.
