LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police say they have arrested a suspect after a man was fatally stabbed in west Louisville late Thursday.
Byron Knott, 26, was pronounced dead at University Hospital at 9:49 p.m. by the Jefferson County Coroner's Office.
According to the arrest report, it happened just after 9 p.m. on Garland Avenue near 20th Street. That's where police say the suspect, 53-year-old Mario Reed, "got into a physical fight" with Knott in front of Reed's home.
After the fight, police say Reed got a bat from his house and tried to hit the Knott with it, but the Knott wrestled it away from him.
That's when police say Reed got a knife and stabbed Knott, who was taken to University Hospital but did not survive.
Reed was taken into custody early Friday and charged with one count of murder. He is being held at Metro Corrections with no bond.
