UPDATE: officials identify person who died after boat capsized on Ohio River
One person has died after a fishing boat capsized in the Ohio River early this morning.
LOUISVILLE Ky. (WDRB) -- We now know the identity of the person who died after a fishing boat capsized in the Ohio River early Friday.
According to Clark County, Indiana Coroner Terry Conway the victim is Anthony Beck from Indianapolis.
Louisville Fire & Rescue along with the Clarksville Fire Department responded to the Clarksville Boat Ramp off Harrison Avenue around 3 a.m.
Officials say Beck and two other men were fishing when their boat capsized 500 to 600 yards from the boat ramp.
The Clarksville Fire Department launched its swift water rescue team. Officials say one person was rescued from the water and another person swam to shore.
According to Conway, first responders arrived at the scene at 3:02 a.m. and located Beck, who was removed from the water. Crews performed CPR, but he was pronounced dead at the scene at 3;42 a.m.
Two other people were taken to the hospital.
Conway says witnesses at the scene said both men were wearing life preservers.
