Thousands of volunteers to pick up trash along Kentucky roads this week

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- It's time for a little spring cleaning along Kentucky roads.

Watch for thousands of volunteers picking up trash through Sunday. Officials say KYTC spends about $5 million to remove 96,000 bags of litter each year, but 700 Adopt-A-Highway groups help with those efforts by selecting a two-mile stretch to maintain for two years.

You're encouraged to keep an eye out for volunteers, move over, and slow down.
