LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A man who fell into an old cistern in Elizabethtown had to be rescued Tuesday afternoon.
According to Elizabethtown Fire Chief Mark Malone, the incident took place at an abandoned home near the corner of Skyline Drive and Winter Smith Court.
Chief Malone said the man fell through what is believed to be a cistern about four feet deep. We're told part of the top gave way when he walked across it, and after he fell in, concrete debris landed on top of him.
It took 45 minutes for rescuers to remove the concrete and pull the man out, according to Malone.
He was eventually taken to the hospital via Hardin County EMS. The extent of his injuries is not known.
