LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Human remains found in Louisville a year ago still haven't been identified.

Last March, a skull, bones and hair were discovered in the Lake Louisvilla area, a rural area of eastern Jefferson County near the Oldham County line. Police didn't know the gender, race or identity of the person.

One year later, the homicide unit is still waiting on the results of DNA tests to come back.

They were looking at missing persons cases in the region, and even nationally. Investigators believed the person had been dead for at least seven years.

It remains an open investigation.
