TWEET: Rand Paul teases that he will make 'major endorsement announcement' on Friday...April 1
U.S. Senator Rand Paul tweeted Thursday afternoon that he will be making a "major endorsement announcement" on Friday, April 1.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- U.S. Senator Rand Paul teased Thursday afternoon that he will be making a "major endorsement announcement" on Friday, April 1.
"I have a major endorsement announcement to make tomorrow. Stay tuned..." Paul tweeted from his official, verified Twitter account.
Paul, a former Republican candidate for President, has yet to endorse any of his former Republican rivals.
Currently, businessman Donald Trump is the frontrunner for the Republican nomination, with Sen. Ted Cruz and Ohio Governor John Kasich also in the running.
That said, Paul has been noted to use social media as a means of joking around. In Dec. 2013, using a theme from Seinfeld's fictional "Festivus" holiday, Paul aired his grievances on Twitter, ranting on everything from Obamacare and a lack of bipartisanship, to burgoo not being served in the Capitol cafeteria. He started with a tweet quoting Seinfeld character Frank Costanza, saying, "I've got a lot of problems with you people, and now you're going to hear about it."
The fact that tomorrow is April 1, widely known as "April Fools' Day," may also be significant.
A spokesperson from Paul's Washington D.C. office declined to comment on what the announcement might be.
