HILLVIEW, Ky. (WDRB) – A Kentucky man is accused of fighting several Hillview police officers, even chasing and trying to ram another officer’s cruiser.

Kenneth Brown, 57, was arrested Thursday morning. He is charged with first-degree assault on an officer, wanton endangerment, reckless driving, and resisting arrest.

According to an arrest citation, the situation began around 12:45 a.m. Thursday, when a Hillview officer found Brown passed out behind the wheel of a ’94 Volkswagen at Hillview and Brookwood.

The document says Brown claimed he was tired, so the officer told him to pull into the city hall parking lot and take a nap.

As the officer did some paperwork, the suspect is accused of speeding toward his police cruiser. The officer says he, “moved just in time.”

Police say Brown then chased the officer for about five blocks, still trying to ram the cruiser.

Brown is then accused of pulling over and fighting four officers. He was eventually handcuffed and taken to the Bullitt County Detention Center.

“Well, I haven’t had a lot of sleep in the last three weeks or so,” Brown explained to WDRB.

Brown, who had a bloody and unexplained bruise on his forehead, started telling his side of the story, but that story took an unexpected turn.

“I want to make sure I say this right to where it’s not misinterpreted,” Brown said. “I had just an overwhelming desire to be with Jesus, or be like Jesus.”

Brown went on to say, “When I would watch a television movie, like Moses or something like that, I thought that was real.”

Two minutes into that interview, the Bullitt County Jailer stopped the questions, and took the suspect out of the room.

Brown’s bond has been set at $50,000 cash. He’s expected in court at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 6.
