LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Three people were shot Saturday afternoon in the 2100 block of Bolling Avenue, and one of the victims has died.

Officials say Lottie Elizabeth Eicher, 20, died at University Hospital just after around 2:30 p.m.

Eicher died of multiple gunshot wounds. The other two victims are expected to survive.

"They came in the yard and started shooting at the house," said Sharnita Rucker, who was inside the home when the shootings took place. " Just, pow, pow, pow pow pow ... just kept shooting them.

"She did not deserve to die like that on the ground."

Aron Ballard, 22, was arrested late Saturday night. According to a police report, Ballard admitted that he shot someone in the leg Saturday on Bolling Avenue, then fired another shot through a closed storm door, which hit another victim. That home in the 2100 block of Bolling Avenue was occupied by five people, all of which were on the first floor at the time of the shooting.

Ballard is charged with two counts of assault and five counts of wanton endangerment.

"She didn't do nothing to them. She was a good girl ... She was one of the good girls."

Eicher's brother says Lottie was a sophomore at U of L's Speed School studying civil engineering. The family released this statement Sunday:

The family of Lottie Eicher would like to express that the shock of their loss is fresh and they deserve time to be alone to grieve. Please respect their privacy as they mourn. Lottie was a Christian and cared greatly about the people in the west end. It is tragic that she was caught in the middle of these circumstances. Her family and friends will forever suffer her loss. Funeral and other arrangements are being made by the family and will be available as they deem appropriate.

LMPD spokesperson Dwight Mitchell says the investigation into Eicher's death is ongoing.
