LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) – Going into their three game series with Virginia Tech this weekend, the 4th ranked Louisville Cardinals promised not to overlook the struggling Hokies as they prepared for two much bigger matchups on the horizon.

So far, they’ve lived up to their word.

Louisville (22-5, 8-3 ACC) scored 9 third inning runs on its way to an easy 13-0 victory over Virginia Tech (10-18, 1-10 ACC) Sunday at Jim Patterson Stadium.

Sophomore left fielder Ryan Summers led the offensive attack, going 3-4 with 2 RBI.  Junior Center fielder Corey Ray added 2 hits including his 9th homer of the season. Louisville totaled 16 hits in its fifth victory in a row.

Junior Drew Harrington picked up the victory to move to 6-1 on the season. He pitched six scoreless innings, giving up five hits, and striking out three.

Louisville looks for the three game sweep over Virginia Tech Monday. After that, the Cards play one game at Kentucky Wednesday before turning their attention to a three game series on the road with Florida State beginning Friday.
