LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville man is facing several serious charges after police say he hit a police cruiser and nearly ran over an officer while driving a stolen car.
According to the arrest report, it happened Saturday afternoon. That's when an officer noticed a stolen silver Ford Crown Victoria on Sale Avenue near Taylor Blvd. When the vehicle stopped at a stop sign on Taylor Blvd, the officer turned on his lights to make a traffic stop. But the driver of the vehicle, identified as 18-year-old Devan Wilson, put the vehicle in reverse "and drove at a high rate of speed, striking the front of another police vehicle that was behind him," according to police.
Police say Wilson nearly struck one officer and drove on the sidewalk as he continued to try to escape. He was arrested when the vehicle came to a stop after hitting a light pole.
Wilson is charged with wanton endangerment of a police officer, receiving stolen property, and fleeing or evading police in a motor vehicle.
