Louisville man holds ex-girlfriend, children against their will with shotgun
The suspect is charged with six counts of unlawful imprisonment and kidnapping.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police arrest a Louisville man officials say held his ex-girlfriend and her five children against their will with a shotgun. According to police, the man is the father of three of the children.
Anthony Murrell, 47, was arrested Sunday at his home in the 2700 block of Cedar Street, near South 27th Street.
Police say the victim called a relative to get help.
Officials say police were able to detain Murrell and remove the victims from the residence without incident.
The police report says the victim stated that Murrell called her to come pick up her children. When she arrived, Murrell allegedly told her she could not leave. Police say Murrell stated he "had a shotgun and threatened to shoot her if she tried" to leave.
Investigators say a "Mossberg pump action shot gun" was located during a search of the residence. Authorities say the weapon was wrapped in drapes.
Murrell is charged with six counts of unlawful imprisonment and kidnapping. He is also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and tampering with physical evidence.
He is being held at Metro Corrections and was scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
